After the long winter, Easter is a fun holiday for children to look forward to. Along with Easter egg hunting, there are plenty of Easter-themed activities you can provide to enrich this holiday for your children.

Easter is the perfect time to teach your kids about new beginnings and renewal, as springtime approaches. There are so many ways for you to help your children commemorate Easter, including spring cleaning, gardening, decluttering—not to mention fun time with Easter-themed games and activities.

Easter provides a great opportunity for families to come together and build meaningful memories, making it a special and memorable holiday for young children in particular.

Here are some ways to spend a meaningful and exciting Easter with your kids.

Fun Easter activity ideas with kids

1. Easter egg hunt

No kid’s Easter would be complete without it! Hide eggs around the house or in the yard and let the kids hunt for them. Spice it up for older kids by including written clues or messages along the way, to make the hunt more challenging and exciting. You can also add additional challenges, like finding a specific egg, or solving a puzzle before finding the eggs. Make a list of Easter-themed items for kids to find in addition to sweets, such as stuffed bunnies, books, stickers, or for a more traditional approach, try something more symbolic of the holiday, like hard-boiled eggs.

2. Easter-themed crafts:

Encourage kids to get creative by providing a variety of materials for them to create Easter-themed crafts, such as decorating eggs, creating Easter baskets, or making Easter cards for loved ones.

3. Easter stories

One way to enjoy the holiday mood any time of year is by reading stories related to the holiday. Read books about Easter to kids, or act out their favorites with a play or puppet show.

4. Family time

Schedule family time with special events like a family picnic, Easter dinner, or an Easter egg decorating party to create meaningful memories and strengthen family bonds.

5. Egg decorating

Decorate hard-boiled eggs or craft eggs, using things like paint, stickers, markers, and glitter.

6. Easter basket making

Create Easter baskets, either by weaving them from paper or decorating existing baskets with materials such as paper, ribbon, or fabric. Children can then use their baskets for the Easter egg hunt or to decorate their room.

7. Bunny mask and tail making

Provide different materials to kids like construction paper, markers, pompoms and stickers that they can use to make bunny masks and tails. Let them have fun playing dress-up and being a bunny for a day.

8. Easter costume contest

Encourage kids to create hats and costumes and have a contest to see who has the most imaginative Easter costume.

9. Easter-themed baking

Bake Easter treats with your kids, such as Easter cookies, cupcakes or a cake. Cooking and baking together with your kids can be a fun and delicious way to celebrate the holiday.

10. Egg roll game

Using plastic eggs, have your kids roll them down a hill or use broomsticks to push them along—let them have a race to see who can get to the finish line first.

11. Virtual Easter egg hunt

Create a virtual scavenger hunt using online tools such as a game app (like Minecraft, for example). This is a fun way to bring family and friends together, who might not otherwise have the chance to see each other.

12. Easter movie or game night

A movie or game night with an Easter theme for kids can be fun. Watch a movie with an Easter story, or play a game like Easter bingo or I spy.

13. Virtual Easter party

Host a virtual Easter party with friends and family, where you can share stories, play games, and enjoy each other’s company—no matter where you are in the world!

14. Easter basket exchange

Prepare Easter baskets with your children to exchange with family and friends, and spread a warm message of sharing, love, and care.

15. Decorate

Brighten your home with Easter decorations, such as Easter eggs, bunnies, and flowers. Decorating with a holiday theme brings a festive mood and helps you get into the Easter spirit.

16. Volunteer

Teach kids about the importance of giving back, by volunteering at a local food bank or retirement home, performing acts of kindness for people in need, or delivering Easter baskets to share your holiday spirit with others.
